Welcome to home schooling! I am a veteran homeschool mom of 22 years who just graduated my youngest child, and I have a passion for helping homeschool moms and children! I wish I could sit down with each one of you and hear your story over a cup of tea, to look you in the eye and tell you that you are embarking on a most worthwhile, challenging and rewarding journey – and that you can TOTALLY DO THIS! I’ll be posting a series of brief helps and encouragements, but first things first…
Have you decided how you will register as a home schooler? You have 3 choices here in Colorado:
1) Turn in a notice of intent (NOI) to your school district 14 days before your start date. (Your district may have one, or find a template online at CHEC.org) It’s super simple!
2) Sign-up for an Umbrella school (CHEC.org is a great one)
3) There is no need to register if you’re a certified teacher.
I recommend you start a “Master school binder.” Grab a 1 inch binder and some tabs. Decorate it if you like 😊 We’ll talk more about this, but for now make a copy of your NOI, your umbrella school enrollment form or your teacher’s license and file it in your binder under “Official Documents”. And that’s good for today – how about that cup of tea and some snuggles on the couch with your kiddoes? 😊
