American Government, The Constitution and The Election Process- 2nd-9th grade, 1-day/week immersion program

The 2024 presidential and congressional election gives an amazing backdrop to learn about the Constitution and the structure of our American government!  We will study the 3 branches of government, the election process, the amendments and how they are ratified…and so much more.  We will study these in age-appropriate groups, with fun activities and our own mock debates and elections. We will also be adding critical thinking to this study, identifying fallacy techniques that are frequently used by politicians and the media.  We will also enjoy lunch together (brought from home) and set aside time for group games. 

Mondays 9:00 AM -1:00 PM for students in 2nd-9th grade. (included in Shine Cottage School)

Zoology 1 -Flying Creatures of the 5th Day – 2nd-5th grade, 1-day/week science immersion program

Our science immersion day will focus on flying creatures!  We will study animal classification, do hands-on experiments and activities, and have so much fun learning about the flying creatures that God created on the 5th day of creation!!  The primary goal of this enrichment day is to foster a love and joy for learning, while building cooperative team building relationships in a safe and positive environment.

General and Earth Science – Apologia General Science– 6th-9th grade, 1-day/week science immersion program

Our 6th-9th grade science program will be a fun and hands-on science lab day to go with Apologia’s General Science curriculum. We will complete the class over two semesters, so both semesters are encouraged, but not required.  For those who want a full homeschool credit, the textbook and note booking journal will be required and assigned each week.  Students are also welcome to join us for this class without the additional homework and will have fun learning through the labs and activities. We will also enjoy lunch together (brought from home) and set aside time for group games.

NEW!  Lit Littles – K-3rd grade, 1-day/week literature unit study

Learning comes alive as we dive into a quality children’s book each week and use it as a springboard for learning geography, social studies, character, math, science, Bible, art, etc.  Activities will be fun and hands-on, with the goal of fostering curiosity and a love for learning, reading and books; while building relationships in a safe and positive environment. We will also enjoy lunch together (brought from home) and set aside time for group games.  A minimum of 4 children will be required to have this class.  Register early and tell your friends!  If the minimum number of students is not met, then you will get a full refund.

Thursdays 9:00 AM -1:00 PM for students in K-3rd grade.
